Letters to Norah // 19 Months

Hello, Norah.

Oh sweet girl, what a wild ride this past month has been!

Our September was jam packed: we road tripped to the NHRA Division 5 ET Finals drag race in Kansas, officially bought our first house, moved into our new place, completed a handful of projects on the new house, and as of yesterday officially moved out of the townhouse we called home for the last 5 years.

Sleeping in on the way to Topeka

It seems very fitting that today is the day we share this letter to you. Having moved out of the townhouse means we are no longer splitting our time between two houses on opposite sides of the metro; today we can begin to settle in.

Today also marks the beginning of October, which is Pregnancy, Infant and Child Loss Awareness Month.

Dedicating time to sharing our journey is how I’m choosing to honor your beautiful life during this month, this month which honors all sweet angel babes. We’re currently finishing my new office to create a dedicated space to nurture this passion for writing and sharing your story, our story, that you’ve helped to reveal in me.

We have so much to chat about (the gender reveal, this pregnancy, and house buying experience) and I can’t wait to share it with you this month.

The projects have officially begun!

My biggest fear throughout this past month was that somehow you would get lost – that you wouldn’t feel as real and present to us as you did at the house where we made your nursery, counted your kicks, prayed endlessly for your health, returned to shattered with empty arms, planned your funeral, and learned how to continue this journey that you and God set us on.

It turns out that those precious memories, all the love and life and heartache, are not tied to those walls, to that house. It’s all carried with us, a part of us as real as our bones.

Norah Mae, we love you to the moon and back, always and forever, no matter where life takes us.
And we know you’ll always be right there with us – you wouldn’t have it any other way.
